Steve Mackey

Steve Mackey is a Producer, Musician, Music Director and Filmmaker.

He has produced records with artists including Arcade Fire, M.I.A. and Florence & The Machine.

A graduate of Royal College of Art London, he joined British Art Rock band Pulp in 1988. Their 1995 album Different Class is widely acknowledged by critics internationally and gained recognition as both a Mercury Music Prize and Ivor Novello Award winner on its release. Pulp released seven albums and many other releases during the 25 years they played together, selling over 10 million records.

Committed to collaborating with practitioners in other fields, his sound designs have accompanied the work of many artists including Damien Hirst and Rachel Feinstein.

As a Music Director he has worked closely with fashion designers Miuccia Prada, Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford. He was a Curator of Music for Frieze International Art Fair and has participated in exhibitions and installations at Museum of Modern Art New York, The Louvre Paris and The Minsheng Shanghai.

Film collaborations include projects for Aphex Twin and Warp records and musical contributions to the soundtracks of films by Oscar winning directors Alfonso Cuaron and Danny Boyle.

A native of Sheffield, he lives and works in London.
